Gardening is up there among my favorite things to do and study. Being able to grow your own food is about as cool as it gets. Everybody loves to watch the slow progression and the end result is always delicious. Food is one of the most essential aspects of life, next to air, water, clothing, and shelter. Therefore being able to grow your own produce is very empowering, and as one farmer put it. “Growing your own food is the most revolutionary thing you can do.”
Gardening is great for many reasons.
- Adults enjoy it
- Kids love it
- It is filled with science if you care to search
- It is filled with practical knowledge at every step
- It is a source for meaningful chores for the kids
- And best of all… It puts food on the table!
I grew up with gardening. My grandparents had gardens, my parents had gardens, and there were farms all around the neighborhood, so it’s something I like, especially now living in the concrete jungle. It’s a source of relaxation after rush hour traffic. For those of you in the suburbs or if you’re lucky enough to live in rural areas, you’ll have a lot more room to play with but even for those of us living in the cities there is still a lot you can do.
We recently just started our window garden for this year, and we will be taking pictures of the progress. If you are gardening or have been gardening with you children, please share with us your experience, we’d love to let our kids see others doing it as well.
Now we’ll be waiting to see what happens, and inshaállah we will be posted all of our progress in our photo gallery on our Facebook page.
